Affiliate Programs, Free Stuff & Commissions!

Are you ready to become an affiliate and start making money off of your blog?

This post will tell you how to become an affiliate, what kinds of companies to promote and how to locate and contact these companies. It will also give you some recommendations on some great affiliate programs that I'm currently part of!

1.    Take a good look at your blog and your social media channels.

2.    Try to figure out your niche, if you can't figure it out, look at your posts.

What are your interests and what kinds of photos do you mainly post on Instagram?

(For example, maybe you post a lot of pictures of your dog,
or maybe there's a lot of fashion OOTD type photos. )

    3. Write down your answers, and think of categories of products you could promote.
(I wrote down dogs, books, health, socks, toys, beauty.)

    4. After you've written all of the possible categories down, be even more specific, what products and brands in each category, do you already use and love? Write them down.

    5. Once you've written down all of the companies you use, start 'googling' companies in those categories. The smaller company it is, I think the better your chances are.

    6. Create a general message in a word document.
Don't get too hung up on this. Doesn't have to be super professional. Just be honest

Your message could look like this:

    ⦁    Greeting and introduction.
⦁    List your blog and all of your social media platforms and followers.
⦁    Tell them you're interested in working with them as an affiliate, or by doing product reviews.
    ⦁     List your contact information.

    7. Visit each company website and send them a message through the contact form or in an email.

    8. Shareasale

This is a must, you NEED to have an account on Shareasale, so many companies are already on there. Take your time, and get your account set up exactly how you want it, filling in all of the required information accurately.

Next, you can begin searching for merchants through Sharesale, you can search by category or by keyword. Once you see a merchant you would like to work with, you click "join program" and they will review your application. Upon approval, you can begin using their banners on your website, and earning a commission from all sales.

( I recommend signing up for their free Holiday catalog )

    9. Don't get desperate, only promote companies that you would be interested in.
Carefully choose the banners so that they match with the look of your blog.

    10. Pay close attention to where you're placing these ads as to not look too spammy.

Affiliate Program Recommendations; once you are accepted as an affiliate,
you can also make money referring other bloggers to these programs!

A stylish, curated box subscription! Free products to review!

Awesome monthly book service gives you a free 3-month subscription to review books/service!

Book of the Month is actually the program that I've made the most with so far.

A really cute online clothing, accessories, home goods store!

Note: I know a lot of bloggers say that you should never receive free products as payment for blog posts or social media posts; however, I believe it is always best to start small. And because you're an affiliate, the chance of making money lies in your hands and depends on how well you promote! So, get all the practice you can, I say.

    35. Great advice! I signed up for Sharasale a while ago, but the website was too confusing for me.
I have been contacting a lot of companies, and so far they have all gone well! The way I look at it is if I would have purchased that item to begin with, then getting "paid" by it is perfectly fine, especially since my blog is still small and growing.
